Florida's race for Governor
Author: Neal Boortz
Talk about smear ... this race has been something to behold. Here we have Republican Rick Scott running against Democrat Alex Sink. Sink is a true Democrat and a purebred ObamaZombie. This is a lady who proudly announced that "Barack Obama has all the answers for America and for Florida." Now if ever there was a statement that should disqualify you for any important position, let alone becoming the governor of a state, that would be it. I wouldn't hire a forklift operator who thought that Obama had the right answers.
But let's get to Rick Scott and this Medicare billing mess. I've met with Rick Scott on no less than four occasions and have discussed this situation at length. Then on Friday - talk about strange coincidences - I met with another person who was right in the middle of this situation, and what this man had to say should be of interest to you.
But first ... just what happened? Trying to put this in the simplest terms, here's what happened. Rick was acquiring hospital companies at pace that might be described as fast and furious. As it turned out, some of the larger companies acquired by Scott and his partners were engaged in billing practices that soon caught the attention of the federal government. Those companies were investigated, the billing practices found to be fraudulent, and a fine was levied. The fine was the largest ever for Medicare billing practices mainly because the company being fined was so much larger than other companies previously fined. The important thing to understand here is that these billing practices existed before Scott ever acquired these companies.
Here .. try this analogy. Let's say you meet someone and begin a relationship. The relationship becomes serious and soon you're living together and making plans to be married. Then one day the FBI shows up at your love nest and hauls your love interest away. It seems that your future spouse embezzled several million dollars from a former employer. Now ... I ask you, would it be fair for someone to try to make the case that you are guilty of embezzlement? Hardly. Your lover was an embezzler before you got together. It's what you do after the crime is discovered that counts.
Now .. just who did I meet last Friday? Someone who served on the federal grand jury that investigated this Medicare billing fraud case and Rick Scott's companies. He told me that throughout the grand jury testimony there was never a suggestion nor any evidence offered of Rick Scott's complicity in this billing scandal. Rick Scott was never the target of any investigation and ever charged with any wrongdoing.
Now ... are things just a bit clearer for you now? Under this scenario do you see any good reason not to take one of the nation's all-time jobs creators and make him the governor of Florida?
..... or, would you rather have a governor who thinks that Obama has all the answers for America and Florida.
Wow! What a tough choice!
