High court to consider Congress map on Nov. 2
Wednesday, October 14, 2015
TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments Nov. 2 about a congressional redistricting plan recommended by Leon Circuit Judge Terry Lewis.
Lewis last week recommended the Supreme Court adopt congressional districts proposed by a coalition of voting-rights groups.
In doing so, Lewis rejected districts proposed by the state House and Senate. The case stems from allegations that current congressional districts violated the anti-gerrymandering Fair Districts standards approved by voters in 2010.
The Supreme Court this summer rejected the current districts, which ultimately led to Lewis' recommendation.
